Adding Special Pages to Your IBSoftShop

Adding "Special Pages" to your IBSoftShop could include modifications to your "MORE Software" and "MORE Products" pages. This page (the one you're reading right now) will discuss examples of different types of special pages. You may also want to reference the Adding Products page for further instructions, including how to twist someone else's arm into doing this for you.

How to set up custom pages that offer a free downloadable product or ecourse...

This is a great place to start because list building is so, so important.

You can keep this really simple or you can get fancy. That will depend on your objective and how much time (and/or money) you want spend on setting it up.

Here's one model for how your traffic could flow:

(1) Incoming traffic arrives at your landing page that presents your Wonderful Freebie offer.

The visitor fills in their name and email address requesting your Wonderful Freebie and clicks the "Yes. Give Me My Freebie" button.

(2) The visitor is automatically redirected to a page that says "Thank you for requesting the Wonderful Freebie. Please check your email inbox for our confirmation request." (NOTE: You may want to include links to other products or sites on this page. It's valuable virtual real estate.)

Your autoresponder sends a confirmation request email.

The visitor (now prospect) confirms their request.

(3) When "said prospect" clicks the confirmation link in the confirmation email, they are automatically redirected to a page that says "Thank you for confirming your request for our Wonderful Freebie. Please check your email inbox for the information that you requested." (Again, you may want to include links to other products or sites on this page. It's more valuable virtual real estate.)

The autoresponder sends them an email with a summary of how they'll benefit from receiving your Wonderful Freebie and the link to the download page.

(4) Prospect goes to the download page where they can download the Wonderful Freebie. (One more time, you may want to include links to other products or sites on this page. It's yet more valuable virtual real estate.)
There are many different ways that you can use the web real estate that you build to maximize the income potential from your traffic. Do some brainstorming. Get creative. A "thank you" page can say more than just "thank you". And remember...

You have three objectives:

1) Sell product.

2) Build your list.

3) See above.

The above example (or variations of it) could also be implemented for other "Special Page" applications, including...
  • Landing Pages
  • "Name Squeeze" Pages
  • Audio Postcards
  • Free Report Offers
  • Ezine Subscription Pages
  • Pages Promoting Affiliate Programs...
...and a whole lot more.

Another type of "Special Page" that you might find very useful is an "Automatic Redirect Page".

Depending on the domain name that you've chosen for your IBSoftShop, some of your web page URLs may get quite long. What options do you have to shorten them?

Answer: Here are three options...

OPTION 1: Use a simple redirect file on your IBSoftShop. This could be a "special page". Here's an example:

This Link: http://www.wareareyou.com/4c2.htm

Goes Here: http://www.wareareyou.com/build-huge-list-niche-keywords-software-sales.htm

OPTION 2: Buy a shorter domain name. (While buying a shorter domain may eliminate the need for a redirect page, it could also be used in combination with one.)

I originally ordered my domain http://www.gothrive.com exactly for this reason. The first site that I ever built was http://www.internetmarketingpowertools.com, which alone is alright, but when I started building the site hierarchy, URLs got RRREEEAAALLLYYY LLLOOONNNGGG! Here's an example:

http://www.internetmarketingpowertools.com/automated-order-systems/third-party-processors.html (94 characters!)

As you'll see below, I've learned to use a different approach since I built that site, but what do you do to fix past sins?

A few possible shorter URL solutions available by buying a shorter domain include:

1) Buy a shorter domain and redirect it to your IBSoftShop just like you're currently doing with your crazy name.

2) Buy a shorter domain and set up subdomains with redirect files.

Example: http://huge-niche-keyword-lists.gothrive.com
Goes To: http://www.wareareyou.com/build-huge-list-niche-keywords-software-sales.htm

NOTE: We cannot set up subdomains on your IBSoftShop.

3) Buy a shorter domain and set up simple redirect files as extentions.

Example: http://www.gothrive.com/huge-niche-keyword-lists/
Goes To: http://www.wareareyou.com/build-huge-list-niche-keywords-software-sales.htm

OPTION 3: Use a 3rd party URL snipper. Here's the one that I've used in the past: http://www.snurl.com. It's free and it's reliable.

NOTE: Some "no charge" online URL snipping services will tag exit traffic pop-ups onto your visitor's click-throughs. You don't want that. Snurl doesn't do this, but when I tested http://www.bz9.com they were. Those scoundrels! And they try to almost hide this fact. So test the service before you decide.

When should you use shortened URLs?

Use shortened URLs in your email, your own ezine and ezine advertisements.

Don't use shortened URLs on web pages. Why not? Because the web page file names that we set up on your IBSoftShop are keyword rich and that's a good thing as far as the search engines are concerned.

Another note regarding this topic is if you want your links from web pages to work as fast as possible, use your IBSoftShop's IP address instead of your crazy name.

Instead of this: http://www.wareareyou.com/build-huge-list-niche-keywords-software-sales.htm

Use this: http://208.76.211.56/build-huge-list-niche-keywords-software-sales.htm

By doing this you remove the DNS server's need to resolve your crazy name to an IP address (which is an intermediate step in getting from point A to point B) and your visitor's click-throughs will be much faster.
